Overview of Sprint 1 Initiation
This week marked the official start of Sprint 1 for our Capstone project, and our team held a sprint planning session to map out the work ahead. Together, we reviewed our backlog, selected items that could reasonably be completed within the sprint, and aligned on a clear definition of done to keep quality and accountability consistent across all tasks
Individual Contributions and Responsibilities
Work was divided across the team: Velma took responsibility for creating our Android Studio project and setting up version control with GitHub. Cassandra and Stephen teamed up to refine UX/UI elements by finalizing wireframes, prototyping screens, and researching sound and button packs that will bring polish to our app. My responsibility focused on backend setup—specifically, creating and configuring the Firebase project for our app.
Overcoming Challenges
Despite our well-laid plans, we encountered some hurdles, particularly with dependency issues and Gradle configurations. These challenges are not uncommon in the realm of software development and require prompt resolution to maintain our development timeline. I am pleased to report that after thorough troubleshooting, I successfully integrated Firebase into the app. Notably, I also verified that the app maintained internet connectivity, a crucial aspect for any web-dependent application.
In summary, the kickoff of Sprint 1 has been a crucial phase for our team, characterized by substantial planning and individual contributions toward our common goal. Through effective collaboration and the adept handling of challenges, we are on a positive trajectory for this sprint and prepared for the work ahead.
